The objective of the CHPT qualitative harmonization protocol was to evaluate the harmonization potential across cohorts from 12 individual studies and the CanPath Harmonization Initiative to address the research objectives of the CHPT Qualitative Harmonization Initiative.

The CHPT Qualitative Harmonization Protocol was generated using study questionnaires and data dictionaries from baseline assessments of 13 studies: 12 individual cohort studies and the CanPath Harmonization Initiative prospective cohort, which includes 6 individual Canadian cohort studies. This harmonization protocol includes 126 variables evaluated across 16 study-specific populations.
The CHPT Qualitative Harmonization Protocol covers information on:
* Participants' individual history of diseases: cancer, endocrine and metabolic diseases (diabetes), circulatory system diseases (high blood pressure, myocardial infarction, stroke), respiratory system diseases (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic bronchitis, emphysema)
* Participants' socio-demographic factors: age, sex, education, working status, marital status, income, family/household structure
* Participants' physical measures: anthropometric measures, heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure
* Participants' reproductive health factors: occurrence and onset of menstruation, menopause, hysterectomy, and oophorectomy, gravidity, live births, contraceptive use and hormone replacement therapy use
* Participants' behavioral and lifestyle factors: cigarette smoking, passive smoking exposure, alcohol consumption, physical activity, nutrition
