SRI_Exposure - Cohort A Mothers taking SRIs - 5 to 7 years
Information about mother’s mental health, depression, anxiety, parenting stress and IQ as well as family’s general health and home environment, was collected.
Mental health (DSM-IV mood, anxiety, somatoform, substance use, psychotic, eating, conduct, and adjustment disorders) was assessed through the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview- Plus (MINI Plus). Depression and anxiety (severity, manifestation and state-anxiety vs trait anxiety) were measured using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Form (STAI). Parenting stress was assessed using the Parenting Stress Index (PSI) which evaluates the magnitude of stress in the parent-child system and the role of parenting stress on child development.
Information about family mental illness, education, occupation, SES, medication use, environmental stressors, and substances use was collected using the Composite Maternal and Family Health Questionnaire and an assessment of parental ratings of “environmental confusion” or “chaos” in the home and the impact of family life on socioemotional development was also completed using the Confusion, Hubbub, and Order Scale.
Cognition was also assessed using the CNS Vital Signs in-office neurocognitive testing.
