Population

SCHeLTI-LIFE TREE - Mothers - Control
The population is composed of women between 20 to 42 years of age who are: registered Shanghai residents, married to a registered Shanghai resident, or non-residents but have lived in Shanghai for at least 5 years, less than 14 weeks pregnant with one child, and planning to deliver in a participating study hospital. In the control group, participants receive usual prenatal and childhood care, but no study health promotion intervention.

Data Collection Event

SCHeLTI-LIFE TREE - Mothers Control - Pregnancy 29 to 36 weeks
Information is collected about sociodemographic characteristics (marital status, household structure, employment, and annual household income), medical history and medication use, hospitalization, adverse events (homicidal behaviours, death, diseases), COVID-19 (symptoms, diagnosis, employment status), drug, smoking, and alcohol history, secondhand smoke exposure, breastfeeding (Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale), nutrition, physical activity (Global Physical Activity Questionnaire), sedentary behaviour (Adult Sedentary Behaviour Questionnaire), sleep (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index), stress (Perceived Stress Scale), anxiety (General Anxiety Disorder-7, Pregnancy Specific Anxiety), depression (Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale), general self-efficacy (General Self-Efficacy Scale), and social support (Social Provisions Scale). Height, weight, gestational weight gain, skinfold thickness, and blood pressure measurements are collected. An ultrasound is performed on participants. Blood, saliva, stool, and urine samples are collected. Buccal and vaginal swabs are also collected. An oral glucose tolerance test for gestational diabetes is performed.
