The Pre-Conception cohort consists of women who intended to become pregnant within one year at the time of recruitment and who then became pregnant.

Prospective participants were made aware of the study by their primary care physician or obstetrician or through publicly-accessible notices (such as prenatal classes and media announcements).

Data Collection Event

PreDICTR - Mothers - Pre-Conception - Second trimester of pregnancy

At second trimester of pregnancy, women answered questionnaires about social and physical environment (demographic characteristics of parents, family structure and composition, social policy, socio-economic status, neighbourhood characteristics, social support, non-parental child care, parental behaviour and lifestyle) and interim updates. Also, questions about life events stressors, depression, temperament, physical activity mobility, nutrition and infection diaries, pain, medication, clinical history were asked.

Weight, height, waist circumference and blood pressure were measured. Body mass index was calculated. Fetal fat and placental imaging were done by ultrasounds.

Blood and saliva (for inflammatory, toxicology and genetic studies) were collected.
