PHAC-PERC COVID population

The population is composed of children (less than 18 years old) who are tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection in any of the 14 participating pediatric emergency depatments (EDs) located across Canada.

Health Status

Participants are included if they presented themselves to a participating emergency department for care and underwent SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid testing.

Other Criteria

Participants are excluded if they tested for COVID as part of asymptomatic screening without a known exposure.

PHAC-PERC COVID - Enrollment

Information about epidemiological factors (e.g. recent travel), demographics (e.g. age, sex), health information (e.g. vaccination status, comorbidities), onset of current illness (e.g. timing, symptoms), emergency department investigations performed and treatments received (e.g. chest x-ray, intravenous fluids, antivirals, antibiotics), and laboratory test results (e.g. viral and bacterial panels) were collected from the chart review.
