The population is composed of registered nurses, aged 30 to 55 years and married at the time of recruitment in 1976 living in California, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Information is collected about sociodemographic characteristics (age, employment status, marital status), lifestyle behaviors (smoking, sleep), functional limitations, quality of life (Psychological Well-Being Scale, The Gratitude Questionnaire), use of assistive mobility devices (cane, wheelchair, scooter), medication (prescription female hormones, analgesics, etc.), suppliments, diseases and other health-related topics (surgical procedures and exams), occurrence of falling, care strategies (advanced care planning, preferences for care), depression (Geriatric Depression Scale), and caregiving (outside of work and while working). Weight information is also collected. Information on cancer, myocardial infarction or stroke, and participants' deaths are collected through health databases.
