The population is composed of registered nurses, aged 30 to 55 years and married at the time of recruitment in 1976 living in California, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Data Collection Event
NHS I follow-up 20
Information on standard reproductive risk factors for cancer and cardiovascular diseases, history of benign diseases, family history of cancer, oral contraceptives, postmenopausal hormones, history of hair-dye use and cigarette smoking, age, parity are assessed through questionnaires.
Weight information is also collected.
Information on cancer, myocardial infarction or stroke and participants deaths are collected through health databases.
