The population is composed of the adult individuals who are at risk of SARS-CoV-2 exposure/infection due to occupation or health condition.

Health Status

Individuals who have HIV, chronic viral hepatitis, and hematologic malignancy were included in the study.

Other Criteria

Individuals who are healthcare workers, long-term care facility staff, transportation workers, homeless shelter staff, dentists/allied dental care workers, elementary and secondary school teachers, elderly individuals living in high-density, long-term retirement homes, and daycare workers.

Participants were recruited through the study website, by distributing the promotional materials to healthcare and dental staff, teachers, and transportation workers; and through collaboration with organizations representing key target populations.

Stop-the-Spread Ottawa (SSO).

Supplementary Information about selection criteria: Initially there were 500 individulas in the Surveillance Cohort. Some vaccinated participants in the Surveillance Cohort were also asked to transfer to the Convalescent Cohort. Approximately 200 participants without history of SARS-CoV-2 infection have transferred.

Data Collection Event

LIR-SARS-Cov-2 - Surveillance Cohort - 3rd month collection

Information on demographics (e.g., age, ethnic group, gender), health history (e.g., vaccinations, medications), severity of COVID-19 signs and symptoms, risks of the SARS-CoV-2 exposure, socioeconomic impacts of the pandemic and psychosocial impacts of the pandemic are collected. Dried blood spot and saliva samples are collected.
