GESTE - Mothers
The population is composed of pregnant women who were enrolled at less than 20 weeks of pregnancy, at their first prenatal care visit at the University Hospital Center of Sherbrooke. A second sample of women was recruited at delivery.
Data Collection Event
GESTE - Mothers - Delivery
A questionnaire collected information about medical and obstetrical history and smoking and drinking during pregnancy.
Height and weight were measured by a nurse and used to calculate body mass index.
At delivery, maternal blood was collected for analysis of PBDEs, PCBs, lipids profile, thyroid hormone and metals (Mn, Pb, Hg, Se, Cd). Urine was collected from the mother for iodine and cotinine analysis. A hair sample was also collected. Finally, placenta and breast milk samples were collected.
Data on maternal health and obstetrical history, medication use, and delivery were obtained from medical records.
