Data Collection Event

FAMILY - Mothers - 21-39 weeks of pregnancy

Data collection took place at study visits through questionnaires, physical measurements, and laboratory analysis of biological samples.

Information about demographics, family health history, ethnicity, socioeconomic status (family size, education, household income), lifestyle practices (nutrition, diet, physical activity and related behaviours, smoking history) and parental stress were collected by questionnaire. Self-reported history of weight and hypertension information, before and during pregnancy was also collected.

Height, weight, hip circumference, subscapular and tricep skinfolds, and blood pressure were measured. Finally, fetal growth was assessed by an ultrasound and gestational weight gain and body mass index were calculated.

Fasting blood was also collected and gestational diabetes was assessed by a 75 gram oral glucose tolerance test between 24 and 39 weeks of pregnancy with measures of glucose and insulin at 0 and 2 hours.
