Participants were recruited from the different school boards and daycare associations that operate within the selected neighbourhoods though letters of invitations and social media.

Supplementary Information about selection criteria: All participants who previously participated in the first round were invited to participate in the following rounds. For example, a participant of round 1 can also participate in round 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Data Collection Event

EnCORE - Children - Round 1

The parent/guardian is asked to complete an online questionnaire for each participating child. Information on sociodemographics, COVID-19 risk and symptoms in the household, prevention efforts, and the well-validated 25-item Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) is collected. A score from the SDQ will be obtained to assess the emotional and behavioral problems in children (Total Difficulties Score). Blood samples are collected through a specimen collection kit for finger pricks that is mailed out to participants.
