The population is composed of women aged 18 years and older, who are in their second or third trimester of pregnancy at time of recruitment, and living in the four selected communities across Canada.

Parents are recruited at routine antenatal obstetrical ultrasound visits, person to person referrals, social media advertising, at kiosks at community events, malls and baby shows, and in health care locations.

Supplementary Information about selection criteria: 82 children failed inclusion criteria or met exclusion criteria at birth resulting in 3542 eligible mothers for follow-up.

Data Collection Event

CHILD - Mothers - 5 years postpartum

At 5 years postpartum, the mothers answered questionnaires concerning their profile/residence, health, nutrition, vitamins and supplements, medications and socio-economic status. Maternal psychosocial characteristics were assessed by self-report which included stress, depressive symptoms and social relationships. Parenting stress was also assessed.
