The population is composed of women aged 18 years and older, who are in their second or third trimester of pregnancy at time of recruitment, and living in the four selected communities across Canada.

Parents are recruited at routine antenatal obstetrical ultrasound visits, person to person referrals, social media advertising, at kiosks at community events, malls and baby shows, and in health care locations.

Number of Participants with Biological Samples: 3,487
Supplementary Information about selection criteria: 82 children failed inclusion criteria or met exclusion criteria at birth resulting in 3542 eligible mothers for follow-up.

Data Collection Event

CHILD - Mothers - 18 weeks gestation

At 18 weeks the mothers answered questionnaires concerning their profile, health, nutrition, vitamins, medications and stress. Household exposures were assessed using a home environment questionnaire.

Blood (whole blood, plasma, serum) was collected. If blood was not collected, a saliva sample was collected instead.
