ASSESS-DBS - Symptomatic

The population is composed of people who are at least 18 years of age, incarcerated in British Columbia (BC) Provincial Correctional Centres (sentenced and remand) or staff who work in BC Provincial Correctional Centres and screened as symptomatic for COVID-19.

Supplementary Information

The study will use stratified random sampling. Recruitment for this study will be facilitated by distributing information about the study to ward reps in every correctional centre, so they are able to advise residents on their ward about the study. Information will also be distributed to Corrections staff through usual staff communication channels (email distribution lists and staff notice boards, etc.) for both Corrections Officers and Correctional Health Services (CHS) staff.

Data Collection Event

ASSESS-DBS - Symptomatic - Baseline

Clinical and demographic information are collected in questionnaire. Specimen are collected using the Dried blood spot and a venous blood sample. Nasopharyngeal swab or saline gargle specimen are also collected for Nucleic Acid and serology testings.
