The population consists of partners; whether it is the biological fathers or those who take on the role of a parent of the children enrolled in the study.

Information was collected from the Partner’s Lifestyle Questionnaire. In addition, information was collected about general physical health, mental health, social characteristics, partner information, substance use, and parenting. Information about current health and symptoms, medications, hospital admissions, and contact with health services was collected, as well as information about the use of illicit drugs and gambling. Social information such as marital status, social support and network, religious beliefs and discrimination was collected, as well as information about relationship with partner and partner’s level of aggression and affection, health, feelings towards child, being the biological parent, and parenting information such as feelings towards having more children.

Amongst mental and cognitive issues, information about depression, anxiety, life events, and locus of control was collected.
