The population consists of partners; whether it is the biological fathers or those who take on the role of a parent of the children enrolled in the study.

Information was collected about lifestyle, the role in bringing up a child and any problems from the Study Partner’s Questionnaire. In addition, information was collected about general physical health, mental health, diet and nutrition, social characteristics, partner information, environmental characteristics, and substance use. Information about current health and symptoms, sleep, medications, and hospital admissions was collected, as well as information about travel to work and activities on spare time. Social information such as education (participant and partner), occupation, marital status, household expenditure, financial difficulties, social support and network, religious beliefs, smoking, alcohol intake habits and use of illicit drugs was also collected.

Amongst mental and cognitive issues, information about depression, anxiety, life events and self esteem was collected.
