Supplementary Information about selection criteria

Partners of the mothers were invited to complete self completion questionnaires from pregnancy onwards by the mother.

Fathers were then enrolled into the study in their own right - 3000 were enrolled in 2010 and were invited to attend a hands-on clinical assessment and complete further questionnaries.

Data Collection Event

ALSPAC - Partners - 122 months

Information was collected about activities, medications, occupation and lifestyle from the Father and Surroundings Questionnaire.

In addition, information was collected about general physical health, diet and nutrition, social characteristics, housing and neighbourhood characteristics, and environmental characteristics. Housing and neighbourhood and travel to work information was also collected.
