The population consists of partners; whether it is the biological fathers or those who take on the role of a parent of the children enrolled in the study.

Information was collected about health, recent events, partner, family and friends, thoughts and feelings, and chemicals in the environment from the Father of a 9-Year-Old Questionnaire. In addition, information was collected about general physical health, mental health, diet and nutrition, social characteristics, partner information, environmental characteristics, and substance use. Information about current health and symptoms, medications, hospital admissions, physical activity was also collected. Anthropometry measures were collected in a self-reported manner. Social information such as marital status, social support and religious beliefs was collected, as well as information about relationship with partner, partner’s health, smoking habits, employment, feelings towards child, and aggression and affection levels. Smoke exposure and illicit drug use information was also collected.

Amongst mental and cognitive issues, information about life events and thoughts and feelings was collected.
