ALSPAC - Children
The population consists of any resulting child from all pregnant women residents in the old administrative county of Avon if their estimated delivery date fell between 1 April 1991 and 31 December 1992.

ALSPAC - Children - 4 weeks
Information was collected through the use of questionnaires and registries.
Some questions were child based and some were child completed. A questionnaire collected information about the baby and any problems with feeding, sleeping, waking and crying. In addition, information was collected about physical health, mental and cognitive issues, diet and nutrition and other characteristics. Information about current health and symptoms, doctor visits, hospital admissions, allergies, eczema and asthma, stools, sleep, and crying information was collected as well as diet and nutrition information including breastfeeding or bottle feeding, feeding difficulties, and dietary supplement information.
Amongst mental and cognitive issues information about development and behaviour was collected.
Children have been linked to the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) database, Pupil Level Annual School Census (PLASC), Annual School Census (ASC) and National and the Pupil Database (NPD).
Participants were linked to residential addresses across the life course. Linkages could be established to co-ordinates or health, political and administrative geographies. Participants could also be linked to neighbourhood data.
Data was abstracted from obstetric and neonatal clinical records. Information was collected about intended and actual place of delivery, gestation and type of antenatal care, pregnancy prior to the onset of labour and delivery, ultrasound examinations, procedures and treatments during pregnancy, antenatal weight measurements and hospital admissions, labour and delivery, medications or analgesics to mother in labour or at caesarean section, maternal complications during labour or at caesarean section, the mother post-delivery, medications and procedures to mother post-delivery, maternal discharge and readmission post-delivery. Neonatal information was also collected, including details of placenta, state of baby after delivery, signs of asphyxia, resuscitation, other treatment given at delivery, paediatric examination, signs and symptoms in neonatal period, medication given to baby, treatments and investigations to the neonate, and discharge details.
