The population consists of any resulting child from all pregnant women residents in the old administrative county of Avon if their estimated delivery date fell between 1 April 1991 and 31 December 1992.

Information was collected on education, employment, relationships with friends and family, and overall well-being. Data on bladder health and puberty-related topics, such as menstruation and body hair, were also collected.
