Collected Dataset / ALSPAC_Children_18months

The population consists of any resulting child from all pregnant women residents in the old administrative county of Avon if their estimated delivery date fell between 1 April 1991 and 31 December 1992.

Information was collected through the use of questionnaires and registries.

Some questions were child based and some were child completed. Questionnaire specifically collected information about health and behaviour and getting along with other children. In addition, information was collected about physical health, mental and cognitive issues, diet and nutrition, environmental characteristics, social characteristics, and parenting. Information about current health and symptoms, doctor visits, hospital admissions, surgical procedures, immunisations, allergies, eczema and asthma, diarrhea or gastrointestinal problems, convulsions or seizures, infections, stools, growth problems, sleeping, crying, and tics/twitches, diet and nutrition information including feeding difficulties and food allergies was collected. Environmental exposures information such as sleeping environment was collected as well as social information such as the number of children in the household and siblings, and parenting information.

Amongst mental and cognitive issues information about development, parental concerns over development, behaviour, communication, temper tantrums/rages and life events was collected.

Children have been linked to the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) database, Pupil Level Annual School Census (PLASC), Annual School Census (ASC) and National and the Pupil Database (NPD).

Participants were linked to residential addresses across the life course. Linkages could be established to co-ordinates or health, political and administrative geographies. Participants could also be linked to neighbourhood data.
