ALSPAC - Children
The population consists of any resulting child from all pregnant women residents in the old administrative county of Avon if their estimated delivery date fell between 1 April 1991 and 31 December 1992.

Information was collected through the use of questionnaires, and registries.
Questionnaires were child completed. Information was collected from the “you and your friends”, “internet use” and “plans and aspirations” questionnaires. Information identifying information of friends, nature of relationship, and which friend forms the group’s opinions on music, fashion and politics, was collected as well as information about time occupied by Internet use, material encountered when using the internet, online sites/services used, opinions with regard to online privacy, membership/use of social networking sites, and restrictions parents may have placed upon their Internet use. Also, they collected information about current activities, education, employment, future plans, money and debt, extra-curricular activities, moods and feelings, self-esteem, gambling habits, periods, physical development and mental well-being from the third questionnaire.
Children have been linked to the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) database, Pupil Level Annual School Census (PLASC), Annual School Census (ASC) and National and the Pupil Database (NPD).
Participants were linked to residential addresses across the life course. Linkages could be established to co-ordinates or health, political and administrative geographies. Participants could also be linked to neighbourhood data.
