ALSPAC - Children
The population consists of any resulting child from all pregnant women residents in the old administrative county of Avon if their estimated delivery date fell between 1 April 1991 and 31 December 1992.

Information was collected through the use of questionnaires, and registries.
Some questions were child based and some were child completed. Questionnaires collected information about child’s health and behavior from mother and information about numbers of teeth and fillings, brushing, body image, cosmetic aspects of teeth, dentists, anaesthetics for dental work, damage to teeth and drinks from child study.
Information was collected about physical health, mental and cognitive issues, diet and nutrition, environmental exposures, parenting, childcare and schooling, and activities. Information about current health and symptoms, dental health and visits to the dentist, doctor visits, medications, allergies, eczema and asthma, infections, time off school due to ill health, speech problems, diet and nutrition information including eating behaviours and dietary supplements was collected. Social information such as number of children in household, siblings, religion, friendships and romantic relations as well as parenting information, childcare and schooling information such as type of school, transport to school, school enjoyment, special needs at school, educational problems, activities such as help in the home and use of mobile phone, pacifier use and thumb sucking, the use of earrings and other jewelry was collected.
Amongst mental and cognitive issues information about development and well-being (DAWBA), antisocial activities, social cognition and body image was collected.
Children have been linked to the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) database, Pupil Level Annual School Census (PLASC), Annual School Census (ASC) and National and the Pupil Database (NPD).
Participants were linked to residential addresses across the life course. Linkages could be established to co-ordinates or health, political and administrative geographies. Participants could also be linked to neighbourhood data.
