The population is composed of individuals that currently reside in Canada (during the COVID-19 pandemic), who are at least 15 years old (>18 for DBS testing) and identify as a gender or sex minority (e.g. trans, non-binary, genderqueer, agender, Two-Spirit, intersex) or a sexual orientation minority (e.g., lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, queer, questioning, Two-Spirit, asexual, or any other non-heterosexual identity), and who can complete a survey in English, French, Spanish, Punjabi, or Chinese (Traditional or Simplified).

Information was collected from an online survey about COVID-19 experiences (testing, diagnoses, vaccination), mental health, healthcare access, violence and discrimination, sexual and reproductive health, housing, economic security, sociodemographic factors, and resilience.
