The objective of the TARGet Kids! COVID-19 Study of Children and Families is to evaluate key epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19 among parents and children, as well as to determine the spectrum of disease severity, seroprevalence, risk factors for COVID-19 infection and severe disease, effectiveness of social isolation recommendations, risk to family members with a COVID-19 infected family member, and potential new strategies to prevent COVID-19 infection and minimize disease severity.
The objective of the TARGet Kids! COVID-19 vaccination sub-study is:
To generate high-quality quantitative and qualitative evidence about COVID-19 vaccination uptake and decision-making among children, parents, and primary healthcare providers in Toronto to inform the development of COVID-19 vaccine distribution strategies.
The specific quantitative objectives are;
* To evaluate COVID-19 vaccine uptake among children and their parents.
* To examine COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among parents, youth, and primary healthcare providers.
* To assess differences in COVID-19 vaccine uptake and hesitancy among children and their parents by age, sex, and social determinants of health(SDOH).
The specific qualitative objectives are;
* To examine attitudes, perceptions, experiences, and concerns that influence COVID-19 vaccine decision-making among parents, youth, and primary healthcare providers.
* To explore family, community, and systemic influences contributing to vaccination behaviour.

- TARGet Kids! COVID-19 Study of Children and Families: * After baseline, parents and children are followed weekly, biweekly, and monthly. * Before September 2021, parents and children were also followed every 12 weeks. Since then, parents and children have also been followed every month of January, June, and September. TARGet Kids! COVID-19 vaccination sub-study: * Parents and children are followed once in 2021 and every 4 months in 2022 and 2023. * A subset of parents and children were interviewed from February to April 2022.
