The primary objective of this study is to determine the incidence of COVID-19 infections and seroprevalence of SARS-Cov-2 immune measures among paramedics.
The secondary objectives are to:
* Compare the incidence of COVID-19 infections and seroprevalence of SARS-Cov-2 immune measures among paramedics between different regions, and in comparison to a different cohort of healthcare workers and the general population;
* Evaluate the occupational risk of COVID-19 in paramedics, and workplace and personal factors associated with an increased risk of becoming infected with SARS-Cov-2;
* Explore longitudinal patterns and relationships between COVID-19 positivity, measures of immunity, and vaccination against SARS-CoV-2;
* Explore characteristics of humoral immunity and the intersection of vaccination andendemic coronavirus immunity with SARS-Cov-2;
* Describe paramedics attitudes of vaccine acceptance and workplace stress during the COVID-19 pandemic.

- The serology cohorts (from British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba) were followed-up at 6 and 12 month after the enrolment visit. The BC observational cohort (British Columbia) was followed from January 1, 2020 until the date of the last serology sample collection on December 2021.

An invitation letter containing information regarding the study was circulated by paramedic organizations and collaborators (local union organizations, paramedics services, paramedic professional associations, etc.) across the five target provinces. This was enhanced through promotion within social media venues and posters. Potentially interested individuals were directed towards the study website. The website included further information about the study. Paramedic services, unions, and associations in both provinces assisted in subject recruitment by forwarding the study recruitment announcement to their members via email, organization webpages and social media platforms. Additionally, recruitment posters were posted in ambulance service stations and in paramedic designated work areas.

Data Collection Event
A routinely collected details of all patient encounters including the treating paramedic, the patient, all procedures performed and personal protective equipment (PPE) worn and the COVID- screen were collected in a British Columbia Emergency Health Services database.
These data are linked to Population Data BC to identify all patients and paramedics who were: (a) diagnosed with COVID-19; and, (b) those who had influenza-like illness (ILI)-related healthcare encounters (within 10 days of the encounter), using ICD-9 codes.

Information on ages of non-positive and positive employees working at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital (BCCWH) as well as total number of employees; the age of each employee; and which of these employees tested positive for COVID-19 (and the data of the test, date of diagnoses was collected.
