The population is composed of staff members in 72 selected long-term care and retirement homes (LTCH/RH) sites in Ontario, Canada.

Information on age, race, sex, gender, language, education level, employment status, previous COVID-19 infection, vaccine status, employment status, employee benefits, household type, key information about household members (e.g., age, previous COVID-19 infection, vaccine and employment status) was collected from a demographic questionnaire. Dried blood spot sample was collected in order to determine if IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 are detectable. Linkage of Study Information to ICES provincial administrative data was performed via OHIP health care number. Information was collected from ICES on incidence of PCR-confirmed COVID-19 infection (including if infection was variant if data available), re-infection among LTCH/RH staff and residents, risk correlates, comorbidities (e.g., asthma, diabetes, heart disease, COPD or other chronic lung condition, cancer that has been treated the past 5 years, liver or kidney disease, HIV/AIDS or other immune suppressing disease, chronic neurological disorder, other chronic condition), prior COVID-19 and flu testing, prior flu vaccination status, COVID-19 vaccination status (i.e., if they got the vaccine, and if so, which vaccine they got and when), prior health care use, hospitalizations within 60 days of COVID-19 diagnosis, severity of hospitalization due to COVID-19, deaths.
