The population is composed of psychiatric patients who were diagnosed with either major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorder, schizophrenia, substance-related disorder, or gender dysphoria.

Participants complete a series of questionnaires through the Brain Health Initiative Platform (BHOP) developed at McGill University. Demographics and physical activity measures which consist of questions to collect basic data on the participant’s background (i.e. age) and lifestyle (i.e. average hours of physical activity) are collected. Data on participants' self-reported health-related quality of life (EQ-5D), physical function and social role (PROMIS-29), level of disability (Sheehan Disability Scale), general health status (SF-36) and self-rated health status (VAHS) are collected. Alcohol use disorder (AUDIT-C), cannabis use (CUDIT-R), smoking (Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence & Smoking History), drug abuse (DAST-10) and ADHD (ASRS-5) are assessed. Insomnia symptoms (Athens Insomnia Scale), cognitive concerns (C3Q), violence experienced during childhood (CEVQ), anxiety (GAD-7), and depressive symptoms (PHQ-9) are assessed. Data on the functional status, social resources, and mental health of older adults (OARS), level of apathy (Starkstein’s Apathy Scale) and personality traits (TIPI) are also collected. Data on the presence of various psychiatric disorders (M.I.N.I.), psychiatric symptoms (BPRS), and severity of depressive symptoms (HAMD) are collected through a semi-structured interview. Cognitive tasks (Matrix Reasoning, Digit Symbol Matching Task, Visual Paired Associates, and Multiracial Face Emotion Identification) are performed. Hair and blood samples are collected. Neuroimaging data are collected through an optional MRI scan of the brain. Data are collected through the Clinical Global Impression - Severity (CGI-S) and Clinical Global Impression of Improvement (CGI-I) Scales and list treatments that have been the most helpful over the last 6 months are collected by clinicians.
