The household data questionnaire collected information about household characteristics, housing, household and family support, assets and household income, and household expenditure.
The individual data questionnaire assessed socio-demographic characteristics, work history and benefits, health states and descriptions, risk factors and preventive health behaviors, chronic conditions and health services coverage, health care utilization, social cohesion, subjective well-being and quality of life, and caregiving.
The participants also underwent a cognitive battery including verbal fluency, immediate and delayed recall, and forward and backward digit span.
Objective measures of health and performance were taken, including 4m timed walk, spirometry, near and distance vision, and grip strength. Blood pressure, pulse rate, height, weight, and hip and waist circumference were also measured.
A blood spot was taken from a finger prick.
