RESPECT - Food workers

The population is composed of asymptomatic individuals working within a food production organization at increased risk due to the nature of their occupation (cannot work from home or difficult distancing) and location in a hot spot in Ontario.

Health Status

Exclusion:

Individuals with fever, respiratory or flu-like symptoms.

Individuals with specific symptoms including:

Fever, chills or headache
New or worsening cough
Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat or difficulty swallowing
Runny nose or stuffy nose without another cause (e.g. allergies)
Nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain
Decrease/loss of taste or smell
Unexplained fatigue, malaise, muscle aches
Eye pain or pink eye.

Individuals should be screened for symptoms as per their institutional requirements.

Other Criteria

Inclusion:

Occupation in food production

Asymptomatic as per daily screening

No contra-indication to performing a nasopharyngeal swab

Data Collection Event

RESPECT - Food workers - Follow-up 3

Information about exposures and travel history, occupation category, symptoms in the past 21 days, and vaccination was collected. Blood samples were collected to look for COVID-19 specific antibodies and/or proteins. A nasopharyngeal (NP) swab may be done for COVID-19 testing.
