The population is composed of usual residents of Canada who are Canadian citizens, landed immigrants and non-permanent residents.

Other Criteria

Participants must be Canadian citizens (by birth or by naturalization), landed immigrants and non-permanent residents and their families living with them in Canada. Participants are also included if they are Canadian citizens and landed immigrants temporarily outside the country. Foreign residents such as representatives of a foreign government assigned to an embassy, high commission or other diplomatic mission in Canada, and residents of another country who are visiting Canada temporarily are excluded.

Supplementary Information

The NHS data collection was carried in three successives waves. Respondants were asked to answer the questionnaires online during wave 1 (May and June). In wave 2 (June to mid-July), printed questionnaires were mailed out to households that did not respond in wave 1. In wave 3 (mid-July to mid-August), non-response follow-up was conducted for households that did not respond in waves 1 and 2.
