The sample included adult population of women who were evacuated from the fires in Fort McMurray in May 2016 while pregnant or those who became pregnant within 6 months after evacuation. Each subject was randomly assigned to one of three treatment groups. The women in this group wrote a journal addressing their innermost feelings.

At 12 months postpartum, participants provided demographics data as well as information about social support (Social Support Questionnaire), life events (Life Experiences Survey), anxiety (Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety), stress (Perceived Stress Scale), and depression (Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale).
