The sample included adult population of women who were evacuated from the fires in Fort McMurray in May 2016 while pregnant or became pregnant within 6 months after evacuation. Each subject was randomly assigned to one of three treatment groups. The women in this group wrote a journal addressing non-emotional issues of health lifestyle.

At 4 months postpartum, information about social support (Social Support Questionnaire), life events (Life Experiences Survey), anxiety (Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety), depression (Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale) and stress (Perceived Stress Scale) were collected. Kinney Questionnaire was used to evaluate complications during pregnancy, labour, delivery and neonatal period.
