The sample included adult population of women who were evacuated from the fires in Fort McMurray in May 2016 while pregnant or became pregnant within 6 months after evacuation. Each subject was randomly assigned to one of three treatment groups. The women in this group wrote a journal addressing non-emotional issues of health lifestyle.

At 24 months postpartum, participants completed questionnaires about their anxiety (Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety), social support (Social Support Questionnaire), stress (Perceived Stress Scale), life events (Life Experiences Survey) and depression (Center for Epidemiologic Studies – Depression Scale).
