KFP - Mothers

The population is composed of multiparous women having given birth to infants in the cities of Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, between 2006 and 2008.

The women had to be English speaking, having given birth to a child of at least 1,500 grams, and having a child one or more children younger than 16 years old in the house.

Data Collection Event

KFP - Mothers - Wave 3

At Wave 3, the children were on average 3 years old. Data collection included questionnaires about family and neighbourhood.

Observational measures of mother–child interactions were taken evaluating the level of responsive parenting (emotional availability and response to the child in a way that is appropriate for the child’s needs) and the level of differential parenting (different treatment between siblings).

Cheek swabs were also collected.
