The population is composed of men and women from Krakow, Poland, and aged 45-69 years old at baseline.

HAPIEE - Poland - Mortality and cardiovascular events follow-up
To determine mortality, the provincial death register covering the city of Krakow and surrounding area is used.
In order to identify, confirm and validate incident non-fatal cardiovascular events, the same questionnaire is sent out every three years to identify the non-fatal cardiovascular events, which will be confirmed using discharge reports and hospital/medical records.
