ELSA - Population
A representative sample of individuals living in a private household in England aged 50 and older (born before March 1952) at the time of the first wave of fieldwork.
Data Collection Event
ELSA - wave 5
Face-to-face interview and self-completion questionnaire. The questionnaire administered was similar to that used in previous waves. The new items included questions on the use of cancer screening services. In this wave, a new module of questions to measure financial risk-taking was introduced. These questions were asked of a subsample of pre-selected respondents and administered either as Computer-Aided Self-Interview (CASI) or as a Computer-Aided Personal Interview (CAPI).
The data collection was made on the original sample interviewed in Health Survey for England (HSE) 1998/1999/2001 aged 50 and older on March 1th, 2002.
