The initial sample of respondents for the CogUSA study consisted of individuals living in the United States, born in 1956 or earlier, and their significant others regardless of age.

Data Collection Event

CogUSA - Wave 3
Information collected in the wave 3 telephone survey primarily replicated the information collected in wave 1. It included confirmation of the respondent’s marital status and residence type, an update of health status and a replication of the cognitive measures administered in wave 1. The cognitive measures included the HRS episodic memory and mental status questions, numeracy, and a few brief measures designed to assess fluid reasoning, including a telephone adaptive version of the Woodcock-Johnson III number series test, and WJ-III retrieval fluency.
