Population

CKD-COVID19 - CKD patients

The population is composed of individuals from Ontario and British Columbia at least 18 years of age with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) and received or plan to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccination are being observed in this population and are compared to observations in health care workers.

Patients are diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 3b, 4 or 5, defined as kidney function less than 45 mL/min and received or has agreed to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

Other Criteria

Patients who have declined or plan to decline the COVID-19 vaccination are excluded from the study.

Data Collection Event

CKD-COVID19 - CKD patients - 6 months post-dose 3

Blood samples are collected. Information about age, sex, ethnicity, residence, income quintile, type of chronic kidney disease, comorbidities, medications, laboratory values, and the history of clinic visits and hospital admissions are obtained from the Ontario Renal Reporting System (ORRS) and PROMIS database in British Columbia. These sources are supplemented by the medical record where required.
