The population consists of apparently healthy blood donors from across Canada in all larger cities and most urban areas, who are at least 17 years of age.

Demographic data including age, sex, city, province, region, self-reported ethnicity, whether participants are first/repeated blood donors, date of donation and Forward Sortation Area Code (FSA) was extracted from the donor database for donors tested for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. SARS-CoV-2 antibody testing was done. All plasma samples were tested using the Abbott Architect SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay (chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA)) which utilizes the nucleocapsid antigen. Data was collected from health databases at the time of donation primarily for the purpose of assessing eligibility.
