Recruitment used a range of outreach activities, including invitations from the Provincial Health Insurance provider (Nova Scotia only), advertising, media coverage, community and workplace events, incentive programmes (e.g. Airmiles) and community champions who encouraged their friends and families to participate.

Data Collection Event

Atlantic PATH - Follow-up 1

Participants provided data via online questionnaires or by mail. The follow-up questionnaire collected information about demographics, mental health, health status, family health history, medical history, cancer diagnoses, medication use, behaviours (sleep patterns, alcohol consumption, tobacco use, second-hand smoke exposure, marijuana use, e-cigarette use) employment status, and anthropometric measurements. The Atlantic PATH cohort is linkable to administrative health data, including cancer registries, physician billing, hospital discharge abstracts, vital statistics as well as hospital-based and community-based ambulatory care, including emergency rooms.
